Purpose:

In submitting a formal response to this consultation, the Council seeks to ensure that the direction taken by Government is informed by and will support the local needs and circumstances of Wokingham Borough’s residents and businesses.

Decision:

That the Executive Member for Climate Emergency approved the consultation response at Appendix 1 for submission to the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV), with the following two additions:

 

1.     Encourage the Government to legislate for the protection of the supply of petrol and diesel for existing and classic cars;

 

2.     Encourage the Government to move the date backwards unless a British manufacturer of electric vehicles can readily produce a vehicle with either/or a 500 mile range or a 10 minute fast charging capability.
